PocketCook vs. ReciMe

Save it from a video. Cook it with the video.

ReciMe is a popular way to save recipes from social posts, recipe sites and screenshots. PocketCook saves recipes from videos, sites and paper too. Where it stands apart is the cooking: the cook’s video at every step, and two or three recipes cooked as one dinner, every dish ready at the same time.

While you cook

The right video. At the right step.

Each step takes the video to the moment it happens, not the start of the video. Let it play, and the recipe moves along with it.

Step three of seven for Sam the Cooking Guy's grilled chicken, flip the thighs and brush them with the reserved marinade, with his video at 6:30 of 9:43 as he turns them on the grill.

While you cook

Stuck at a step? Just ask.

Ask how to tell when it’s done, what to swap or how to fix it, and get a short answer from the recipe you’re cooking.

The questions that fit the step are there to tap, or type your own.

Asking about a step of Joshua Weissman's High-Heat Skillet Steak. How do I get a deeper crust? Don't crowd the steak, and leave it alone until it releases. How golden should it get? A deep golden color, like good toast, not pale. Two more questions wait to be tapped.

For dinner

One dinner, several videos.

Put two or three recipes together and cook them as one dinner. PocketCook works out what happens when, so every dish is ready at the same time.

Each dish keeps its own cook’s video, and every step brings up the right one, at the moment it happens.

The dinner's first step, set the oven broiler to high, for America's Test Kitchen's roasted peppers, with their video at that moment. The next step, bag the chicken thighs with the marinade, for Sam the Cooking Guy's grilled chicken, with his video at that moment.

From a video

Paste a link. Get every dish.

When a video makes several dishes, each one becomes its own recipe, with its own ingredients and steps, credited to the cook and linked back to their video.

No written recipe in the description? With Plus, the video is watched and the recipe written out for you.

The app after Brian Lagerstrom's soup video is pasted: three recipes found, Broccoli Cheddar Soup, Chicken Noodle Soup and French Onion Soup, each with its own ingredients and steps, and a button to save all three.

The cooks you follow

Their new videos come to you.

Everyone you save a recipe from is kept together in your book. Follow them, and their new videos show up there, ready to turn into a recipe with one tap.
