Ingredients

  • 4 ripe guavas, ends trimmed and cut in half
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered
  • 4 cups water, divided
  • 1/4 cup sugar (or to taste)
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh guava slices, for garnish
  • Fresh strawberry slices, for garnish
  • Fresh mint sprigs, for garnish

Method

  1. Place the halved guavas, quartered strawberries, and 1 cup of water into a blender.

  2. Blend until completely smooth.

  3. Set a fine-mesh strainer over a large pitcher and pour the blended fruit mixture through to remove the guava seeds.

Press the pulp with a spoon to extract all the liquid and flavor while keeping the hard seeds out.

  4. Pour the remaining 3 cups of water into the pitcher.

  5. Add the sugar and lemon juice to the pitcher.

  6. Stir well until the sugar is completely dissolved.

  7. Fill glasses with ice, strawberry slices, and guava slices.

  8. Pour the agua fresca into the glasses and garnish with fresh mint sprigs before serving.

  9. Store any leftover agua fresca in sealed glass bottles or jars in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Shake or stir well before serving.
