Simple Onion Salad

Ingredients

For the salad

  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • Ice water
  • Katsuobushi (smoked bonito flakes)
  • Chopped green onion, for garnish
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

For the dressing

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp lime or lemon juice (about 1 lime or lemon)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

For the assembly

    Method

    For the salad

    1. Soak the thinly sliced onion in a bowl of ice water.

      Then 10 min of waiting

    2. Drain the onion thoroughly.

    3. Arrange the drained onion slices on a serving plate.

    For the dressing

    1. Combine the soy sauce, lime juice, and sesame oil in a small jug or bowl, stirring until mixed.

    For the assembly

    1. Pour the dressing evenly over the arranged onions.

    2. Top with a generous heap of katsuobushi flakes.

    3. Sprinkle chopped green onions and sesame seeds over the top before serving.
