  • 2 tsp pure maple extract
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 375 g all-purpose flour (3 cups)
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 120 g chopped pecans (1 cup)

For the maple glaze

  • 120 g powdered sugar (1 cup)
  • 3 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1/4 tsp pure maple extract

Method

For the cookies

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. Add the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar to the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment.

  3. Cream the butter and sugars together on medium speed until smooth and lightened in color, 2–3 minutes.

  4. Add the eggs, maple extract, and vanilla extract.

  5. Beat on medium-high speed until fully combined, about 1 minute.

  6. Add the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.

  7. Mix on low speed just until the dry ingredients are incorporated and a thick dough forms.

  8. Gently fold in the chopped pecans with a spatula until evenly distributed.

  9. Scoop 3-tablespoon balls of dough and place them onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each.

  10. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the edges are golden brown and set but the centers are still soft.

    Then 12 min of waiting

  11. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

    Then 15 min of waiting

For the maple glaze

  1. Whisk the powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and maple extract together in a medium bowl until smooth.

  2. Drizzle the glaze over the fully cooled cookies before serving.
