Ingredients

For the stew

  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 green chili peppers, sliced
  • 2 cans canned tuna (about 8.2 oz / 230 g each), with oil
  • 2 tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 2 tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 4 large garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 green onions, chopped

Method

For the stew

  1. Line the bottom of a pot or deep pan with the diced onion.

  2. Add half of the sliced green chili peppers over the onions.

  3. Add the contents of both cans of tuna, including the oil, directly into the pot.

  4. Add the gochujang, gochugaru, soy sauce, and 1 1/2 cups of water.

  5. Cover with a lid and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

  6. Mince the garlic, chop the green onions, and slice the remaining green chili pepper.

  7. Stir the stew to combine the seasoned paste with the liquid.

  8. Add the minced garlic, chopped green onions, and the remaining green chili peppers into the pot.

  9. Cook uncovered over medium heat until thickened to your liking, about 3 to 5 minutes.
