Homemade Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients

  • Olive oil
  • Garlic, minced
  • Ketchup
  • Chili
  • Ground coffee

- Soy sauce

  • Molasses
  • Spices

Method

  1. Heat a generous splash of olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.

    Olive oil gives the barbecue sauce a rich shine.

  2. Add the minced garlic and let it caramelize slightly, about 1–2 minutes.

  3. Stir in the ketchup, chili, ground coffee, soy sauce, and spices.

  4. Pour in the molasses to give the sauce its classic barbecue flavor.

  5. Simmer the sauce for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until all the flavors combine and the sauce thickens.
