Ingredients

For the burger sauce

  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard
  • 1/4 tsp burger seasoning

For the burger

  • 2 tbsp dried minced onions
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 170 g ground beef (80/20), shaped into
  • 2 equal balls
  • 1/2 tsp burger seasoning
  • 2 slices American cheese
  • 1 burger bun, split
  • 3 pickle slices

Method

For the burger sauce

  1. Combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and burger seasoning in a small bowl and stir until smooth.

For the burger

  1. Rehydrate the dried minced onions in the water in a small bowl for 2 minutes.

  2. Heat a heavy griddle or cast-iron skillet over high heat until smoking hot.

  3. Place the beef balls on the hot griddle and press each flat with a heavy burger press until thin.

  4. Season the patties evenly with the burger seasoning.

  5. Cook until deep brown crust forms on the bottom, about 1 minute.

  6. Flip both patties and immediately place 1 slice of American cheese on each patty.

  7. Place the split burger bun cut-sides down on the griddle and toast until golden brown, about 30 seconds.

  8. Stack one cheesed patty on top of the other, remove from the griddle, and set aside.

  9. Spread the burger sauce onto the bottom and top toasted buns.

  10. Top the bottom bun with the rehydrated onions, the double cheese patty stack, and the pickle slices.

  11. Close the burger with the top bun and serve immediately.
