Irish Oatmeal

Ingredients

For the oatmeal

  • 1 cup steel cut oats
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 tsp salt

For the toppings

  • Brown sugar
  • Fresh blueberries
  • Honey

Method

For the oatmeal

  1. Bring the water and salt to a boil in a medium saucepan.

  2. Stir in the steel cut oats and bring back to a simmer.

  3. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the oats are tender and creamy.

    Then 20 min of waiting

  4. Stir in the milk and cook uncovered for an additional few minutes until thickened to your desired texture.

    Then 5 min of waiting

For the toppings

  1. Spoon the cooked oatmeal into bowls.

  2. Top each bowl with a sprinkle of brown sugar, fresh blueberries, and a drizzle of honey.
